Bummer
Posted in Life on May 3rd, 2008So I applied for a new position at my job and today I found out that I didn’t get it,which was really no big deal at all but what pissed me off was the cookie cutter reason why I didn’t get it. I cant stand that just tell me the real reason why I didn’t get the job so that i could have something to build on, not the same crap you tell everyone. I mean really out of everyone that applied I have the best resume and I am not bragging about it but I have more experience then most of the people I work with in mu field plus I have two degrees, one which happens to be in internet security and yet I didn’t get it.
I don’t get it what is this world coming to when your education is worth the paper it is written on, to top it off I was extremely sick the day of my interview but I worked the whole day anyway. I mean it I didn’t care I wanted to show how dedicated I was that I was dope up on meds and wiping snot, now you might say well thats not the best way to interview. What you don’t know is that the people interviewing me work with me everyday , they already know everything about me so what would be the big deal I mean they already new I was sick before I got there.
Not to mention some of the scenarios I was given made no sense what so ever, but thats what happens when you work with people who pretty much fix the same problems everyday and then they act like they know how to really fix real pc issues. But I held my head up high and went back to work like it was no big deal because I knew that I was going to stick to my guns and have a back plan.
I told my wife and family that if I didn’t get this position then there was no real reason for me to stay there because in my eyes I am selling myself short. So now my mission is to start looking at the different offers I get daily and I really mean i get them and have turned them down daily ( thanks to Monster.com). On top of that I am starting my own business on the side.
The only good thing about my current position is that it is almost second nature to me now and no one really bothers me, it also allows me the time I need to work on my side jobs like the pc repairs and websites I tweak. It is also allowing me time to setting up the security seminars that I have been planning, which in its self is a great thing.
I know one thing for sure the day I decide to turn in my two week notice is the day they will all ask the same question. WHY?
